Event marketing channels

Marketing Services manage five central event promotion channels that you are welcome to use to promote your UNSW event to the public.

The focus of these channels is an external audience, to engage the local community and build brand awareness. The diversity of the events run by UNSW, and promoted on these channels demonstrate our research and teaching excellence.

 1. Events calendar


events.unsw.edu.au hosts an online events calendar for UNSW run or associated events.

Why?

  • This site received 500+ visits per month so is an essential channel on which to promote UNSW events to the public.
  • Events listed on this page may be selected for inclusion in the fortnightly events email newsletter that goes out 30,000+ subscribers.
  • Visitors are able to search for events by; faculty, school, unit or date, so please ensure your listing is correctly categorised.
  • An event must be listed on this site before it can be promoted on any of the other channels.

How?

  • To submit your event, please click on the Add Event button on the events homepage

 

 

  • Please submit an image for all events. The image can be in jpeg, png or gif format, must be larger than 600x335pixels and less than 2GB. If your image is not the correct shape, it will be automatically cropped by the website.

2. Events newsletter

This fortnightly electronic newsletter is distributed to 30,000+ subscribers. To have your event considered for inclusion, it must be listed on unsw.edu.au/events.

3. Events page banner

Why?

  • This web page gets over 500 visits per month.
  • Engaging images shown at the top of this page increase event page views.

How?

  • There are five positions on the events page banner carousel. To request space please email: events@unsw.edu.au
  • Banners are selected based on the business needs at that time. As the space plays an important visual part on the page, it is essential that engaging images are used.

Why?
  • The homepage receives approximately 1 million page views per month.
  • Promoting your event in this space will drive traffic to your listing/URL, as well as increasing awareness.
  • Banners on the homepage receive an average of 50 clicks per day (dependent on category).

What’s on poster

Why?

  • Marketing Services produces aWhat’s On’ poster every month that is displayed in over 90 locations around campus as well as at local libraries.
  • Being featured on this poster will increase awareness of your event to students, staff and the local community.

How?

  • Events are selected by Marketing Services based on the images submitted along with listings to events.unsw.edu.au.
  • Special requests to be included can be made by emailing marketingservices@unsw.edu.au
